The first day of spring is called the
Vernal Equinox.
Spring started on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 9:30 P.M. (PDT) in southern California. It is called the Vernal Equinox. There are two times when the sun is exactly above the equator. One equinox is in September and the other is in March. Equinox means equal night and there are nearly twelve hours of day and twelve hours of night.

ReplyDeleteI am so excited to write in this blog post because spring is my favorite season of the year. Spring is like a trip to Disneyland because of all the colors. So many new things (animals) pop up that you can’t see in any other season. Bunnies come out from their burrows and the bears wake up. This is called hibernation. Hibernation is when an animal eats a lot to store fat in winter because it is hard to find food. I used to love learning what types of animals and plants live and grow in spring. Last year my family did not do much, but I still had fun. This Spring we might not much either. One of my favorite things about spring break is that I don’t have to wake up at 7: 00 in the morning and get ready for school, instead, I can sleep in till almost lunch time.

ReplyDeleteI’m really excited to tell about what I have noticed because spring is one of my favorite seasons. First, I’ve noticed on weekends that the the birds are as loud as elephants! I can hardly go back to sleep! There are more bees, too. I know that because there is a beehive right outside my bathroom window. We already sprayed it with bee spray, but the bees are building it up again!
If you are interested in knowing my spring hobbies, here they are! Waking up early ( I am the early bird in the family ) to play tennis, with my sister. Her name is Amara. Once she caught a baby lizard that would be sitting and crawling up trees because he always is doing that, so, catching lizards is one, and that’s pretty much it! Do you like spring, if not, what season do you like?

ReplyDeleteMy name is Maya. I thought that the idea of a spring post was AMAZING. I think it is a GREAT way to express and learn what your classmates do during spring. In spring I like going to Underwood Family Farms. It is FANTASTIC there. My sister asks me everyday “when is it spring because I want to go to Underwood Family Farms”? SHE LOVES Underwood Family Farms. Underwood Family Farms is a farm that you can go to with your family to enjoy the outdoors and get to feed their pets. For example they have goats, horses and peacocks.
Spring is my favorite season. It is my favorite season because I LOVE watching all the trees and bushes grow again. I also have a fact to tell you about spring. It has warmer weather and longer daylight. Which is GREAT because then I will tell my mom” why do I need to go to bed there I still light outside”.
I WILL see the BEAUTIFUL roses, sunflowers and daisies blooming.

I am so excited it is finally spring. I went out today and when I turned around a building the wind was so strong it felt like a blizzard but it was fine before that. I clumsily walked to the store I was going to. When l was leaving the store the wind was normal but when I made the same turn the wind nearly blew my jacket off. Weather can be so strange. Did anything like this happen to you? I also noticed my tomato plant is starting to grow flowers. Warmly Audrey D.

ReplyDeleteI like spring and all, but one thing I don’t like is bees because there are so many in my backyard because of flowers and I sometimes need to go up this trail that has flowers on both sides! I always try to stay away from them. My mom and dad love flowers, so spring is their favorite season. It’s my second favorite season, but summer is my first because I can eat the watermelon, and it’s very sweet. What is your favorite season? What is your favorite part of spring?

ReplyDeleteIt’s April already! March went by so fast! I didn’t know that the first day of spring was called Vernal Equinox and is so cool! I love the the flowers that bloom. I love the roses because they smell really good! I also love the birds that come back! The babies are so cute!They migrate south in the winter and when it’s winter in the south they migrate north in the spring! They have babies in the spring so the babies have about six months to grow and get flying. All that time they also gets them time to ganewatte so the are ready to migrate. I also think near a light I have a birds nest outside my house! I keep seeing birds fly out of there. What is your favorite thing in spring?

ReplyDeleteI know Spring is coming when flowers start blooming on trees and bushes. For example, during Spring our lemon tree grows small, white flowers that smell like perfume. HUMMINGBIRDS ENJOY THE FRAGRANT SMELL OF THESE FLOWERS, AND BEES ARE ALSO ATTRACTED TO THESE FLOWERS FOR THEIR POLLEN. Also, Spring brings new plants with yellow flowers growing on our backyard hill. Spring also brings more butterflies around. I found a caterpillar recently and it just went through metamorphosis, which is the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. It was black with yellow spots on its wings. It was very fun watching it take its first flight. How do you know it is Spring in your backyard?

In the spring, I played soccer, and I also played basketball! Also in the spring, I got to see more little critters ! Since I have a apricot tree, the apricots start to fall so my family and I can pick them, and enjoy them for a yummy snack!

Hi, it is Helena, So it is still spring and I have already started my garden. Are you going to start a garden? In my Easter basket I got some planting kits with two strawberry plants and one tomato plant. First we got some pots. Then we got some soil. Then we put the soil in the pots. We had to wet the soil and plant the seeds.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to start a garden with dogs in the yard. Nala and Fifi both like to chew on plants. That is why we need to keep our plants up high. Do you have any dogs? Do you need to keep your plants safe?

One thing I do not like about Spring is the rain, and that Spring is cold. The rain tickles me when it hits me. One nice thing about RAIN are the RAINBOWS that REACH across the sky after a storm. The rainbows are so beautiful and pretty because they colorful. The colors of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. My favorite rainbow was over our backyard hill. I saw one there on St. Patrick’s Day, but when I got to close to it it disappeared.
Is there anything you do not like about Spring?

ReplyDeleteSpring is really fun. Spring is as fun as a waterslide. In spring I like to play and run around. Also, spring is very hot here, but probably just warm in other areas. My mom and dad just LOVE flowers. Seriously, pretend my backyard is four quarters, and the garden takes up three quarters. That’s how big it is. There’s also a big hill in my backyard, and once I climbed all the way to the top with my mom (there are no stairs to the top). Up there, I could see everything! I even saw A.C Stelle from there. I also saw all my neighbor’s houses, and my house is at the top of a hill, so I got a especially good view. Does spring entertain you? Is spring your favorite season?

ReplyDeleteI am going to tell you all about my favorite time of year, spring! I love spring because of all the beautiful blooming nature,and the fun time I get to spend outside, and the warm weather. I enjoy lying outside on my bench looking up at the clear blue sky surrounded by the different type of flowers. I also like going to the park and riding my skateboard while my brother follows behind on his scooter. The park is very pretty during spring time and when my brother and I finish playing around we lay a blanket down on the grass and have a family picnic. My favorite spring snack is watermelon. Watermelon is very refreshing and great for spring picnics. These are just some of the many reasons why I love spring.Do you love spring?
