Welcome Back 2017

Welcome Back to the 2017-2018 New School Year!

Yesterday was our first day of school!

We jumped right in and started our adventure!

In the morning, students and families lined up to meet the teacher and hear a few opening remarks from the principal.

Students are ready to begin the day!

In class, we began by getting to know each other through teamwork and games.

After recess, we opened up and categorized all the supplies. Later, students had fun "building" using the Kleenex boxes and the paper towels. They used teamwork and perseverance to build a pyramid.

What does perseverance mean?

The tissue boxes are rectangular prisms, while the paper towels are cylinders.

Magnificent balancing work!

Today we also played another teamwork game. Each team was given a stack of index cards. Teams were asked to build the tallest tower. However, in order to use a card, they had to find out one thing they all had in common and write it on the card before it could be added to the structure. Teams worked together and asked a lot of questions.....and build some creative towers!

This educational blog is the centerpiece of our classroom community. It is a wonderful space for sharing and learning together. Here is a link to an article Mrs. Yollis wrote about the benefits of classroom blogging. I hope you'll have a chance to read it before our Back to School Night.
Let's start blogging!

Students, please leave a comment telling us about yourself. What did you do over your summer break? What adventures and experiences did you enjoyed?

    Dear Class,
I, Tyler, am very excited because this year I have many friends in my 3rd grade class and everyone is respectful.
I, Amit, am really happy about the star stickers we get in class. I can't wait to earn a prize.
I, Brooke, was very happy that we build our tissue box tower really high and we tried very hard to make a fort and worked together.
I, Dylan, love the organization in the classroom.
I, Alexa, love that our class theme is Harry Potter as I love the Harry Potter series.
I, Belana, like our new teacher. I, Ariel, was excited that I had a lot of similar things in common with my classmates.

How was your first day of school?
    Sincerely,
    The 3rd grade class

  4. Hi class
I know it's a little to late to be writing on the Welcome Back post , but I wanted to say that ... I'm so happy the I got Ms. Tulbure for 3rd grade because she's a very good teacher. At first I didn't have a lot of friends in my class but now I made a lot of them. That shows that if you want to do something work hard and NEVER GIVE UP!
    BBBBYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
    Yours truly Belana
