Welcome Back to the 2016-2017 New School Year!
Yesterday was our first day of school!
We jumped right in and started our adventure!

In class, we began by getting to know each other through teamwork and games.
We also got started right away with the introduction of Daily 5. Daily 5 is a structure as a way to teach reading and writing by giving students choice in the goals they are working on. We started with the first choice, Read to Self. During this time, we discussed the reasons we do Read to Self: because it's fun and it makes us better readers and writers. We also talked about a few rules to help us reach our reading goals. Read to Self is part of the Daily 5.

After recess, we opened up and categorized all the supplies. Later, students had fun "building" using the Kleenex boxes and the paper towels. They used teamwork and perseverance to build a pyramid.

ReplyDeleteMom,thanks for the comment. I know we have a nice classroom. Which spot would you choose? I would choose the beanbag and cushion on the wall because it's more comfortable. It's a hard choose, I mean it's pretty hard despite the fact that every spot is comfortable and really cool.

Hi, this is Taylor! My favorite food is watermelon & Mac n Cheese. My favorite subjects in school are Science and Art. Over the summer I went to Lake Arrowhead and went waterskiing. I went to a water park for my birthday. I also went horseback riding in Mammoth. I can't wait for this 3rd grade school year!

Wow, I did not know that you can go to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset. It sounds like it would be a beautiful scene. I really enjoy watching the orange glow of the sky at sunset time.

Dear class, I was able to make a snowman, but there wasn't any carrots or any thing to use as eyes, buttons and mouth. I should of had gloves because it was freezing! there was music and my sisters and I had a blast!

ReplyDeleteI want to tell you and the class about my Labor Day weekend. On Saturday I went bowling and to Jerry's Famous Deli with my grandparents. On Sunday I played tennis and saw my tennis coach hit the ball so high I was shocked. Later that day my family and I walked to the Calabasas Commons and had fresh smoothies at Sun Life juice shop. Finally, on Labor Day my family and I went to the Westfield Mall and rode the carousal and got sweets at the candy store. I saw that the candy store had these huge amazing gummy bears. They are so awesome!!! We also had dinner at Lucille's BBQ and had a great experience trying this new restaurant. I came home after dinner and read my book. Now I will be going to sleep. Done! Done! Done!

Greetings class!! I want to tell you about the fun activities I did after school. Every Tuesday I have karate and piano classes. I am green belt in karate and I am trying out for the black belt club. The teachers need to invite you in if they see you are ready and focussed. After a fun hour of learning karate I went to piano. Today I learned a new song called Morning by Edvard Grieg. Does anyone else go to karate or play piano? See you guys in school tomorrow for another amazing day of learning in 3rd grade.

ReplyDeleteThis summer I went to San Francisco. I biked across the Golden Gate Bridge on a tandem bike with my Dad and then we stopped at a restaurant. Then when we got back to the hotel we figured out that we got food poisoning at a restaurant where we had lunch. I was throwing up everywhere. And so we went home. It felt like we were there for a week. It was good to be home.

The weather was very hot, but when we got there my sister and I went to the pool.The pool was kind of warm, but the jacuzzi was like a hot sun inside. Also, my family and I went to a lake. Over the weekend we decided to set up a camp and camp fire in the backyard with my younger brother. We gathered leaves and sticks for the fire and roasted marshmallows. Then we made s'mores with the roasted marshmallows. It was delicious!

I didn't try them, but then at Camp Keystone I tried one and it tasted really good. Now I am wishing to reverse time and want to try the marshmallow again. Hi Sam, we have a fire pit in our back yard so my parents and I do camp fires all the time. My mom makes hot chocolate and we talk, tell stories and listen to music. I also went to an amazing camp fire in laguna beach. First they read us a story and then we got to make s'mores. It was awesome!!!

When I was seven my mom threw a big party at our house. At around 8pm, we went outside. My mom turned on the fire, it was an electrical fire pit. We made s'mores. They were scrumptious. We used chocolate and gram crackers and chocolate marshmallows.

I played Call of Duty and we went jet-skiing one day, it was fun going fast and falling in the lake, and watching the water spray. I went 50 mph on the jet-ski. When we played Call Of Duty, we were playing zombie mode which was fun. On the last day, we went home instead of going to Dave and Buster's. I was hoping we would go because I never went there. ReplyDeleteOver Summer I went to many Dodgers games. But the one I liked the best was Dodgers vs Red Socks because I got to do KIDS TAKE THE FIELD. The Dodgers won 4 to 8! I also went to San Diego I went on a tour of Petco Park home to San Diego Padras.
The baseball players hit the ball so hard it is like a cannon ball coming out of a cannon. I also caught a foul ball at a Dodgers play offs game.
I am glad I am Tech Wizard because I know how to work tech.There is a is a fast food place called IN-N-OUT Burger.
I get a double double that is a burger that has 2 of every thing you order like cheese burger meat I just get meat cheese and bun.It is so good.

Making a triangle out of paper towels wasn't easy, (making it out of tissue boxes looks a bit easier, and that's fine.) but it was still fun! The triangle made out of paper towels looks like an icicle, and the triangle made out of tissue boxes looks more like what it was suppose to look like.
Daily five is a fun activity, my favorite thing to do while it is happening is read to self, since I have this book I love to read called, "The School for Good and Evil, A World Without Princes". I'm in the middle of the book right now. (there is about 400 pages)

ReplyDeleteI am so excited to be back at school! There are many reasons so, but one of the most important reason is that I missed my friends, and I also missed doing the fun activities at school! One of my favorites is PE, and I love doing the pacman game, jailbreak, four corners, four squares, or when we are running two or more laps as a warm up. Now that I am back, at school, I can do all of these fun things! My favorite day of the week is Friday, since we have a Fun Friday, and we get to trade in stickers! (Most of the time I cannot, since they have already been spent, and I have to wait some more time until I can get another prize)

ReplyDeleteOver the weekend I went to Mammoth and in Mammoth I to June Mountain to Ski. All the dads were putting the Skis in the locker for tomorrow while all the kids were playing outside. Near the ski rack. I was telling my friend a riddle ,She was on one side of the ski rack and I was on the other, so after I told her the riddle she gave Me a really funny answer this is the funny part as I leaded over to laugh the ski rack was frozen My lip got stuck to the pole I got a FROSTBITE, then we went down the ski lift laughing.

HI class it's Justin and Skyler. We are going to tell you about are are winter break. Ok Skyler talk about your break. I went on a full on adventure this winter break. I went to Taipei and Macau which was so fun and amusing because when it was raining hard one day in Taipei, we set off lanterns so heaven could answer. Ours was the highest And once when it was windy it flew away to a little dot. It was raining hard so the wind was hard so it flew away in a ease. In Macau, the ferry ride back was rough seas due to rain And then SMASH! We had this air time jump wave that we rode on. Everyone got Seasick when we hit this jump. Now Justin it's your turn. Over winter break I to New York to see all my cousins. After I drove to Baltimore to see my gramma and grampo. And my friend William went there too. After, we went to the airport to get back home, but we couldn't get a direct flight so we had to fly to Chicago then to California. See you soon By Justin and Skyler on Welcome Back 2016-2017!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Taipei, this day it was raining and we went up to this mountain and we went to
touch an actually piece of gold that was 10,000,000 dollars and was cold and surprisingly, there were no guards for some reason. We took a picture of me actually touching a really big bar. That is a lot of money, enough to buy a mansion. For nobody to steal it
the owners bolted it down but still should have guards to make sure people don’t saw a
half off and haul it down to the ground. That was amazing though. Did any of you ever
touch a gold bar before?

ReplyDeleteOver the weekend I went to Glow Zone at glow zone my favorite game was laser tag when I played I was catgirl. It was really fun. You had to try to shoot other people that are not in your team and when you are surrounded by other players you can press a button on your uniform then you will be safe for 5 seconds well the point is to get to the other team’s ball and shoot it.
I also liked the rock climbing. In the rock climbing there were different wall one wall had alphabets the other had sports ball and the last one had rocks.

In the morning announcement I said"My name is Grant happy birthday to Mrs.Welti and there will be no music today and then please stand for the pledge of allegiance”.
