Today, my class participated in Global School Play Day!
Thank you to the Bedley Brothers and Twitter for introducing me to this project! The power of a Personal Learning Network (PLN) triumphs again!
I was heavily influence to participate in #GSPD after listening to this eye opening presentation:

On Monday, I emailed parents, shared "The Decline of Play" video, and asked for games to be brought in for our #GSPD event. On Wednesday, we had a few curricular blocks, but we were able to have two solid play sessions. One session was with our 5th grade buddies!
The sessions were sensational!

First, we talked about the rules.
There would only be ☝, the Golden Rule.
We made centers for different types of games
Let's Play!
We played outside
We had some fun games of Twister
Some Mancala
Played cards
We played some difficult balancing games like Jenga
We created using LEGO
And even had a puppet show!

ReplyDeleteI think Global play day is great because the kids get a break for them to get their energy out of them. We think every school should do this if they haven't done it yet. If you don't like one game there are a lot more to do then that. The kids get to bring their favorite games to school but it can't be anything with batteries.Thank for reading this comment.

ReplyDeleteThis is Sammy,I think Global Play Day was a lot of fun.The funnest game was Twister in my opinion. The game is very fun. I won! I brought my favorite music box from Disneyland had Arial in it.
This is Anya, Global play Day was a blast! My favorite game was Mancala. I was very weak at that game then, but now I'm very good at it. I brought four Bennie boos. Their names are, Twigs, Glamour, Hero, and Speckles.

ReplyDeleteAnd we are here to talk about globule play day. It was extremely fun to bring our things to school and play with our animals toys and others. It was extremely fantastic playing instead of learning. We were so happy that we did not have to do math or other school activities. It was very fun to play with everyone in the class and all of us got along. Nobody was sad everyone was happy. What do you like about globule play day?

ReplyDeleteGlobal play day was excellent for me because we could do less work and more fun. My favorite part was probably when I did matches of connect 4. What was your favorite part? It is also refreshing yourself and having fun at the same time.It was very educational too. I also loved it because you could bring a stuffed animal.(I forgot to do that)There were fun games like cards, Mancala, Twister(with a paintbrush as the pointer for some reason), and etc. What was your favorite game?

We think the best thing about Global play day is we get to bring almost any game we want or furry stuffed animals. Global play day is a great way to have a blast with your friends. We know we did. Buddy's is where we go every Wednesday.We played with our buddies I play with my soccer ball basketball because there's no basketballs And my partner's love basketball but not as much as I do.PLAYING WITH OUR STUFF IS AS FUN AS BASKETBALL FOR ME.WHOEVER CREATED GLOBAL PLAY DAY IS A GENIUS!

ReplyDeleteI think Global Play day is great, but I wonder how many schools do it. My guess is 1,000. What’s your guess? If you read other comments, you’ll know that you’re not allowed to bring batterie filled toys. If there was no rule about that, There would be a robot tornado! I was having lots of fun playing connect four. Someone brought a big, bouncy ball and I tried sitting on it and bouncing. Did not work. What game did you bring in? How fun is Global play day to you?

You have to put your hands and arms on purple blocks or anywhere people say according to the wheel. The blue dot was as blue as a lake. Which game did you bring with you?

ReplyDeleteJohn-Paul here. I am happy to say that I enjoyed Global Play. Some highlights for me were that my class was able to play games with our fifth grade buddies and we could bring any toy from home as long as it didn’t have batteries. I was as happy as a clam when I was passing the football with my fifth grade buddy. In conclusion, I enjoyed this day very much. What was your favorite part of Global Play Day?

ReplyDeleteToday I am here to tell you about Global Play Day. What I brought in for Global Play Day was a stuffed animal. It had big eyes and a little nose, blue body,and a green stomach. Most people brought in some things like dolls puzzles and board games!The most best thing about Global Play Day is that you get to bring a toy to school and play with it throughout the day.I played a lot like Twister,Jenga,and did a little puppet show that is all I can say about Global Play Day.Was Global Play Day fun for you?

ReplyDeleteI am so happy to write about this blog post! Last year my class and I had this classroom party called Global Play Day. l hoping I wouldn’t miss anyone’s game they brought in to show. Mine was just boring old Crayola markers! But I loved seeing what everyone brought into show. I wanted to see what games everyone liked. Today, I still remember the moment we set foot into the wonderful Fun Day Classroom! The puppet show was so much fun. What I did at the puppet show was, a show called Animals Jam! Everyone got to participate! My friend Maya, thought of doing the puppet show. She even set up the puppet’s! Isn’t that a great idea?! I think Global Play Day was as fun as a clown!
