Lucky Hat Day!

On Friday we celebrated reading The Lost and Found by Mark Teague by bringing in our own lucky hats.

The Lost and Found is a story about Mona, a new student in school who is searching for her lucky hat in the Lost and Found bin. Two new friends, Wendell and Floyd join her by plunging into the incredible world in the Lost and Found bin.

Check out some of our lucky hats below:

We also compared texts by Mark Teague by reading Pigsty and The Secret Shortcut. We used a Double Bubble Map to compare and contrast The Secret Shortcut and The Lost and Found. We found many similar themes and characters when we compared, but we also found different adventures and character motivations when we contrasted the two books.

  1. Dear Ms.Tulbure
I just read a book called Miss Mary is Scary Written by Dan Gutman.
The book is about a girl, Miss Mary, who is the daughter of the principal of a school and he wants her to be a student teacher. She becomes one and a student named A.J finds out that she has black make up and wears black clothes. They also find out that she is dating a boy that is in a band called Fish Food and he writes a song called I Love Dirt and it becomes a big hit. He gets his own album and they go on tour and Miss Mary and him get married. I hope you read this book and like it.
Another book I like that is written by Dan Gutman is called Miss Daisy is Crazy. It is about a woman that loves chocolate balls and chocolate she is crazy for chocolate.

  6. Hi, it's Mark.
I have many different favorite books, but I am going a to tell you about only two of my favorite books called "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and " Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J.K Rowling. The Goblet of Fire is a good book, in my opinion, because it's very catchy when Harry gets into the Triwizard tournament. There he passes all the tasks and his best task is the second one because Dobby the house elf brings Harry Gillyweed, and Gillyweed is something that makes you breathe underwater and have webbed feet and webbed hands. The Chamber of Secrets is a good book because Harry finds out that he can speak Parasel tongue. And that is all I have to say about my two favorite books.
Did you read any Harry Potter books yet? If yes, which two of the series are your favorite?

    Sincerely,
    Mark

  8. Dear Chaparral Cub Bloggers,
I just finished reading a book called Bunny Double We're in Trouble,Written by Dan Gutman. It is an amazing book.I am going to tell you my favorite part of the book.In the book here are a lot of good parts but if I had to pick my most favorite part is when A.J ( a student) and his friends go to a Easter Party and thinks that there are Peeps ( a type of candy). He really loves CANDY!Then later on in the story a bunny comes in the room and then runs away. The students later want to find out who was in the bunny costumes. So they went into the room where the bunny went and saw a VERY famous his name is Boomer Wiggins and they saw that Boomer took ALL the candy and Peeps. They were so mad at him but so happy to get to see him.ALL the girls went to him to ask for his autograph. Then he said that he was on the last Peep.A.J said NO to Boomer but he stuffed it into his mouth.A.J was SO VERY mad at him.

    The End
    Sincerely,

  9. Dear Chaparral Bloggers,
I just read a book called The New Years Eve Sleepover From The Black Lagoon,Written by Mike Thaler. It is about a boy (Hubbie) and he was invited to a sleepover and is scared about so many things.I can tell you one reason why he was scared about going to the sleepover. He thinks that the other boys are going to snore. He also thinks that people are going to make fun of his sleeping bag.But none of that stuff happens to him or to anybody else.He falls asleep very quickly and makes in through the night and does not even know. When he wakes up he throws confetti cannons in the air.Have you ever read this book?

    Sincerely,
    Maya
