Today, my class participated in Global School Play Day!
Thank you to the Bedley Brothers and Twitter for introducing me to this project! The power of a Personal Learning Network (PLN) triumphs again!
I was heavily influence to participate in #GSPD after listening to this eye opening presentation:

On Friday, I emailed parents, shared "The Decline of Play" video, and asked for games to be brought in for our #GSPD event. On Wednesday, we had a few curricular blocks, but we were able to have two solid play sessions.
The sessions were sensational!

ReplyDeletePlay day was fun still to come next year and the year after. I chose to bring baseball cards. Skyler’s Peterbilt semi truck and the Justin’s lego’s. I had a fun time explaining all the baseball cards to friends and classmates. But most of all sharing and the fun going on, I have a lot of Jackie Robinson baseball cards. I am sure you had a great time also. Samantha ,Ben,Edan and Skyler stopped by to look at my baseball cards. Next year I will bring lego’s,And addition to that Lego people.

I think Global Play Day was a awesome day to use your imagination and to take a break from technology. You see kids these days are so much into technology. My first reason that global play day was awesome is because, you got to use your imagination. For example pets can't drive cars right but, with Leslie's toy care and Ashlynn's Beanie Boos we made pets driving a car that's just crazy. Also we got exercise with a fun game of twister. Last but not least, I think all of us will agree we got to see new games. Like a different game of clue you had to find out who ate the cake. I Loved Global Play Day! How I liked global play day!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I liked Global play day.I liked Global play day because I played Twister with my friends it was fun.How you play is you spin a spiner and it lands on a color you have to put your hand or foot dapending on what it lands on. If it lands on a dot that is purple and has a
T on it than you flip it over and pick a sentence from the back.There was some crazy ones like left foot on yellow and pat your head. We played for a long time .It felt good to get off my acer.I’m sad that global play day is ending but maybe we could have it again. Have you ever had Global play day?

One way, you could play any game you wanted if your friend tells you to play with him you don't need to play that game unless you do like that game and want to play that game. If you don't want to play that game you can play the game you to play. What was your favorite game?

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Global Play Day was very fun and exciting. I loved how everybody brought in their toys. I learned new games. A game I enjoyed with all my friends was twister we all took turns being on the mat, I had very fun. One reason is you learn new games and get to know each other better. The new game I learned was apples to apples it was very exciting, fun and great all at the same time. Another new game I learned was life,I got to know my friends better, It was amazing. Finally I learned a game called jenga, we got to stack up blocks I got to know my friends much better while playing the game, It was together fun and exciting.
I think Global Play Day should be done every year.

ReplyDeleteI just want to say what I think about Global Play Day. Here is my claim, I think Global Play Day is the best. I loved that you don’t use electronics because you give a break to your mind, and get to use your imagination. Here is a reason why Global Play Day is the best, I learned a lot of new games from my friends. It was an amazing experience for me. A support why I think that Global Play Day is the best is that you can play with your friends like if your friend plays a different game at any free time than you can introduce them to the game. Another, support is that you can bring any toy you want or game but it can not have batteries. The last, support is that if they bring a game that they don’t know about than, they can teach you that game that you don’t know how to play the game. Was it an amazing experience for you?

ReplyDeleteGlobal Play Day was awesome and turned out very well. Reason number 1 I liked the fact that everything was a opinion to other people with their favorite toy. Reason number2 is that the board games are the game that i do not know how to play. Reason number3 is that some toys were wrecked up but still works surprisingly the toys still worked. Support For reason number 1, the Global play day is imaginative and keeps you off the screen. Support for Reason number2 is that the remote control is awesome , but it moves around for you and I do
Not like that so you have to have push toys. Everyone has legos and half of them are not moving around on your own, I have a ton of Legos and they aren’t pushable, so that's why I like push toys. Support for reason number3, The push toys are the best because back then they did not have technology so you would have to push the toy, I had a bunch of push toys that I like. Now, time for the details of my truck. My truck which I brought in last year, but this one is special. It is 7 times bigger than the other truck. It is diecast, opening doors, opening hood,
Actually rubber little tires and delicate sidemirriers, oil tank, smokestack, running board, mud flaps, bumper, head lights, horn on the top, deflector,and the steps on the back to connect up the lights to the trailer. How do you think Global Play Day went and do you have that detailed of a truck?

Hi, this is Logan and this week I was assigned to do a opinion on Global Play Day. For you who do not know what Global Play Day is, there is info on the blog. So then let's get started. In my opinion Global Play Day is fantastic because you can play with anyone. Three reasons are, One, last time we had Global Play Day everyone playing Jenga went over to the dominos and we made a huge line of Dominoes and Jenga pieces. Two, Global Play Day allows all games to be open to everyone. Three, everyone can go to whatever game they want and everyone can play together.

Have you have ever wanted your school day filled with games and toys and fun instead of listening to boring lectures? Well you can with global play day! I am here to tell you a few reasons why global play day is awesome! Global play day is also educational because there is no bringing electronics or electronic toys so you can use your imagination. And another cool thing you can do is you can come up with your own game like grant's idea baseball card baseball that is how you can be super creative! And my last reason is similar to last reason do you want to hear it you do?! Ok the last reason is you can put toys together in many ways to create a game or stunt like what Skylar and Edan did Edan put his toy reseller on top of a toy ladder and Skylar put his big toy truck next to it with a toy table on it but when you touch it it snaps and we pushed the reseller off the ladder into the toy table! “Noah! ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Global Play Day is very fun. One reason is that you can learn and play new games. There was a game that I did not know about. I tried it and it was really fun. I did not know how to play a game called Jenga. But I had a lot of fun. It was fun because it’s like a stacking game and you try not to knock when you pull out the blocks of the tower. I played it for a while then I then went to try new games. I thought Global Play Day was a blast! I had a lot with Twister. I played that for a long time too. When I finished I went to try more new games. I started to look a round for new games. I saw a game that looked fun. It was called Apples to Apples. I had never heard of that game. I took it out and started to play with it. My friend and I played it. We had so much fun playing that game. We played that game till we ran out of time and it was the end of the day. Overall it was so much fun. And next year I can’t wait to see all the new games and learn how to play them. Do you think Global Play Day is fun?

ReplyDeleteI like Global Play Day because you can figure out games with friends and then play the games. For example I was trying to figure out this balancing game with Ben but it had no instructions! So I had to figure it out myself with Ben. Another example is when I tried to build dominoes and I was in charge of building with the white dominoes but only those types of dominoes did not stand up. I think the white Dominoes were the hardest because they were the thinnest, so I built with the black smaller Dominoes. Why do you like Global Play Day?

One way that Global Play Day was fun I got to see some games that I know but I don’t have like Barbie and some other games they were really fun games some of the games I didn’t like as much thought but I still thought that they were fun. You can also play any game you what like ganga and beany boos . Another reason why Global Play Day was fun is because I got to teach people a new game that I brought. But I forgot what it was called. One reason that global playday is amazing is because you get to play with toys you’ve never seen before. You can imagine things that you’ve never imagined before. If you’ve never played a game someone who has can show you. If that person doesn’t know you can teach them. It is also good because there are no computer to do the work for you. The computer also does not let you use your imagination to imagine a spaceship or a robot flying by. So now you know why

ReplyDeleteHi class I think Global Play Day is a great experience because you can play games with people who you never played with before. This is a great opportunity for kids to get to know each other and play games together as a group. It is also good for your brain because you talk to other people and discuss the game. Another reason it is good for you is because you can make new friends while playing the game. One more reason why Global Play Day is good for you is because you get to use your imagination when you build things. Global Play Day is also good for you as it keeps you away from electronics and bonding with other children. Do you like Global Play Day?

ReplyDeleteI loved our Halloween party. It was so exciting. We made spiders out of donuts and pretzels, we played charades, we measured pumpkins, we played bingo, and we rolled dice and had to find all the pieces to the pumpkin, and we had so much fun! Hopefully we get to do something like that again! More parties, and bingo, and measuring, and donuts and all that fun again!

I had a lot of fun during Global Play Day. I experienced many new games that I have never seen before, for example Blokus, Candyland and one of my games named
Tugie, I never knew how to play but, my friends and I figured it out. During global play
day, everyone used their imagination, and the Jenga dominoes were really smart. I think Global Play Day should happen every year, why… because it is super fun! Also it is like a big brain break throughout the whole day. Like I mentioned, everyone uses their imaginations! Also learn how to play new games and have a lot of fun.

ReplyDeleteGlobal Play Day is the best thing. Baseball cards are the best thing to bring for Global Play Day because “baseball cards” are so cool. I like baseball cards for many reasons. First, you can do math with them. Also, you can learn about different players. Next, you can compare and contrast different players. Also, you can play baseball with them like the hitter will hit and the fielder will try to catch it, if it goes over the player’s head it’s a HOME-RUN Last but not least, you can look at your favorite player’s stats and learn about them. I liked the baseball card stand at Global Play Day. Do you like play day?

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Global Play Day this year since there were so many different games to play. All of my favorites were there, and I had the time to play with my best friends in class. I’d love to have electronics as another thing you could do, since they too, are fun to play with. There are so many games on them, a few are multiplayer games, and you can play with friends! But besides that, Global Play Day is one of my favorite celebrations of the year!

The first reason why it's the best because you can’t bring any non electronic toy like a robot your phone or ipad stuff like that.Some toys kids brought in my class were very cool and the game I brought in was twister mostly all the girls in my class
played it and one boy did as well. Global play day was the best I wish it was every day. In my opinion I think Global play day this year was awesome?

Hello this is Samantha. I think that global play day was amazing. I thought it was epic because the games were awesome. My first support is there are so many cool games that we brought like twister, jenga, the semi truck,lego’s and all kinds of cool games. I am so grateful that the Bedley Bros. invented play day. The Bedley Bros. invented play day, because they wanted to have an exciting day where you get to have a good time with your friends. Play day is more fun than lunch or recess. Last, when the Bedley Bros. made a day that was meant for kids to have fun it was designed to stimulate teamwork, friendship and the most important one is being a good sportsmanship. Hello my fellow classmates I love Global Play Day because you get to bring in games and legos and all the toys you want. But no electronics are allowed, for Ex: like no Electrical toys and no ipads and games on computers and no using your Acers on Global play day. Global play day was made by the Bedley brothers. We are so lucky because we have global play day and it’s all thanks to the Bedley brothers. I like Legos so I am going to play with legos on Global Play Day.What are you going to play with on global play?

ReplyDeleteThis is Grant speaking about baseball. The Dodgers are the best baseball team. The Angels are also good but not as good as the Dodgers. This is Sam speaking, I like fixing things and mountain biking with my dad even though I do not have a bike right now. My dad is looking at really nice mountain bikes for me. My brother really likes his new bike. Now it’s Grant speaking. I like to bike with my bike. My brother has an old bike of mine.
I have a seven speed bike that I really like. I like racing my mom around the block and I never win my mom always wins. She has a pink beach cruiser. Now it’s Sam speaking again, I have a camel backpack that carries water but is not fancy unlike my dad's which is very fancy. I have an orange backpack with a blatter. A blatter is a piece of the backpack that holds the water. And at the bottom of the bladder you'll notice that there is a hole at the bottom which is where you put your tube that you can drink from. And at the end of the tube you’ll see a little attachment that you actually drink from. This is Grant speaking: Sometimes my brother joins in the fun by riding his bike with my mom and it’s really fun. My friends and I play baseball outside when we are home because they play baseball like me at Agoura. I’m not saying that biking is not fun it’s just that I play baseball more often.
But it’s fun to play video games Sam got Xbox like me plus we both have “Forza Horizon 3” and “Minecraft”.Forza is an Australian racing festival game. In Minecraft you have to fight for survival by finding blocks and building houses.
The Dodgers have some of the best players in the MLB which stands for Major league baseball. You know what the Angels also have good players I just love Mike Trout.I’m going to 2 spring training games in Arizona.I will see the Dodgers go up against the Rangers and the Angels I will try to get baseball cards signed by the different players. Spring training is sometimes televised which means on TV. I love spring training it’s so cool I am going cool? Any way I have MLB 16 for my XBox 1 it’s cool you can make cool plays.
