Parents came to hear about third grade!
Lots of information was shared about classroom expectations, curriculum, and resources.
One of the main topics discussed was blogging.
Educational blogging has so many benefits! Thank you, Mrs. Morris, for this blogging diagram.
To learn about blogging from a student perspective, watch this video Mrs. Yollis made with her third graders about why they love blogging.
She also shared a wonderful video about supervising and guiding children on the web. It is a great video that really drives the point home. Thank you, Bill Genereux, for the fabulous movie.
Parents left thoughtful notes for their child. Everyone loved it!

What are you excited to learn about this year?
Parents, how is third grade different from when you were in school?
Dear Ms. Tulbure,
ReplyDeleteWhen my mom was in third grade they did not have computers or flexible seating in her school. Also, Harry Potter was not invented yet. Third grade was a long time ago for my mom!
From,
Spencer
Dear Spencer,
DeleteI really love how you used capitalization and punctuation so well. I remember when I was in the third grade as well. We did not have flexible seating either. We sat at small, individual desks.
You mentioned that Harry Potter was not written yet when your mom was in third grade. Was there a series she loved from then? What other series do you like now in third grade?
Best,
Ms. Tulbure
Dear Spencer,
DeleteMy mom didn't have flexible seating either and instead of computers she learned cursive.
From,
Chloe
Dear Ms. Tulbure,
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to multiplication. Multiplication is my favorite thing in math!
Yours,
Benny
Dear Ms. Tulbure,
ReplyDeleteMy mom says the biggest difference from when she was in 3rd grade is the technology. Blogging was not a thing. Also, my mom went to school in Buffalo, so all of the classrooms were inside a building with hallways. It was way too cold to go outside for lunch because it snow a lot in Buffalo.
From,
Wyatt
Dear Wyatt,
DeleteMy Mom grew up in Minnesota so she experience it the same way. Lots of snow too.
